Swallow Evaluation

We are the only private practice in Stuart, Florida that provides Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) to get a direct view of your throat muscles as you swallow.

Here’s how it works:

During the FEES, a small (~3mm), flexible scope is passed through your nose and into your throat while you eat and drink. To make sure you’re comfortable throughout the entire swallowing test, you’ll receive a lubricant  gel so it easily passes. The test itself usually lasts 10 minutes. Once we’ve evaluated your swallowing, we’ll sit down with you to discuss the findings. Together, we’ll create a plan to help you return to your favorite foods and drinks!

We are the only private practice in Stuart, Florida that provides Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES)

Swallowing Therapy

Virtual or in-person therapy is available for Florida residents. We offer an intensive rehabilitation approach to dysphagia (the medical term for “trouble swallowing”). Like physical therapy – but for your swallowing muscles! We’ll help you improve your swallowing function using these cutting-edge treatment modalities:

Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES)

We are certified in both Ampcare Effective Swallowing Protocol™ and VitalStim®. Each option implements electrodes  and exercises to help your swallowing muscles improve their function (don’t worry, it’s painless!)

True Angle Mobili-T

This portable biofeedback device uses special technology to let us “see” what your throat muscles are doing when you exercise your swallow (and helps you meet your goals!)

Tongueometer

This biofeedback device and interactive app lets you see and keep track of  how strong your lip and tongue muscles are when you exercise them.

McNeill Dysphagia Therapy Program (MDTP)

MDTP is an intensive, multi-week program that combines eating and drinking with exercise and motor learning principles. This research-based protocol has been shown to improve swallowing function in over 90% of patients!

Manual Therapy

By applying gentle and sustained pressure to the throat muscles, you can find relief from pain, tightness, and voice, speech, or swallowing impairments related to muscle tension.

Swallowing Disorders Support Group (FREE)

We’re proud to co-facilitate the only swallowing disorder support group in Florida endorsed by the National Foundation of Swallowing Disorders (NFOSD). This upbeat and informative group is FREE for caregivers, families, friends, and individuals living with dysphagia.  Learn more about this FREE support group

Being diagnosed with head and neck cancer brings many challenges. You don’t have to face these hurdles alone.  Kristin Winter, MEd, CCC-SLP, has advanced training to support people diagnosed with head and neck cancer before, during, and after treatment. In addition to swallowing evaluations (FEES), intensive swallowing therapy, voice therapy, and speech therapy, we're proud to offer these very specialized head and neck cancer services to help you find relief after treatment:
